The Brain and Memory Lab is a part of the Oregon Memory Group, an interactive group of researchers from several labs in the Department of Psychology whose research touches memory and its interaction with attention, learning and decision making.
Patricia Moss-Vreeland is an artist and author who is inspired by memory and neuroscience. Patricia and Dasa met in 2017 and have been discussing ever since the potential of reaching beyond their usual silos and exploring interactions between art and science. Their collaboration culminated in Patricia’s exhibition In Search of Meaning: Memory Becomes Us, on display at the Esther Klein Gallery in Philadelphia in 2019 and in Maryland Hall for the Arts in Annapolis in 2021. For the exhibitions, Dasa provided science commentaries accompanying Patricia’s artwork, visuals for a plasma screen slide show, commentaries for the printed catalogue, and a public lecture on memory. In 2022, Dasa and Patricia recorded one of their conversations, illustrating the parallel universes they live in, speaking different languages of art and science, yet deeply interested in the same topic.
