Caitlin received her PhD from Penn State in 2015 working in the Cognitive Aging and Neuroimaging Lab with Dr. Nancy Dennis. She joined the Brain and Memory Lab in 2015 to pursue her interest in understanding the neural mechanisms of learning and memory. Her graduate work focused on the neural mechanisms of false memories as well as strategies for improving memory precision. Her goal as a postdoctoral researcher is to understand the roles of both generalization and precision in adaptive memory function and how each changes with advanced age.

Taylor Guthrie

Taylor Guthrie

Taylor received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He worked with Dr. Joel Snyder in an auditory perception lab that studied participants’ ability to detect changes in their auditory environments and also worked with Dr. Jefferson Kinney in a behavioral neuroscience lab that looked at molecular links to schizophrenia. He joined the Brain and Memory lab as a Master’s student in the Fall 2017. His current research interests are in uncovering the mechanisms that allow for emotion to influence the formation and retention of memories and how the access of old memories enables us to engage in the process of inferential reasoning.

 

Stefania Ashby

Personal website

Stefania is a graduate student in the lab. She received her B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University in 2011 where she worked with Dr. Brock Kirwan studying the role of the hippocampus in memory and imagination. From 2012-2015 she worked as a research associate at UC Davis with Dr. Cameron Carter and Dr. Tara Niendam studying cognitive control and reactive aggression in early psychosis. She joined the Brain and Memory Lab in Fall 2015. Her current research interests are in examining the neural mechanisms behind learning, memory, emotional processing, as well as the interactions between memory and emotional processing. She is also interested in neurofeedback techniques such as real-time fMRI, and how they could be used to improve memory performance.

Lea Frank

Lea Frank, Ph.D.

Lea received a B.A. in Psychology from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. She joined the Brain and Memory Lab as a master’s student in the Fall of 2016. Her main focus is studying the neural basis of various cognitive functions, particularly memory, using neuroimaging. She is also interested in tracking the structural and functional neuroplastic changes of cognitive function in neuropathology.

Yihua received B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She joined the Brain and Memory Lab as a master’s student in Fall 2022. Her main research interests are memory function and memory integration mechanisms.

Min graduated from University of Oregon with psychology major and multimedia minor. She is interested in the cognitive control and it’s realtionship with clinical psychology.

Meghan graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Oregon with a B.S. in psychology. Her main interests are in mental illness prevention and intervention through counseling psychology. She is also particularly interested in the experience of suicidal ideation in college students.

Undergraduate Research Assistants:

JoJo Downing

Jo was a current undergraduate student at University of Oregon double majoring in Human Physiology and Neuroscience,  with plans to complete a minor in Biomedical Engineering.  He has interests in motor skill learning / rehabilitation, memory encoding, and memory recall in patients who have experienced traumatic brain injuries. He has aspired to enter graduate school programs but will exercise gap years to travel and hopefully hike the Pacific Crest Trail.  On his free time Jo likes to be recreational active including cycling and backpacking, cooking classic recipes from scratch with gluten free ingredients, and river plunging in the McKenzie river.

AbigailAbigail Phillips

Abigail was an undergraduate student majoring in Psychology and minoring in Food Studies. She is interested in many aspects of both child and adult cognition but look to pursue nutritional psychiatry mainly. In the future, she hope to gain a masters or PhD in Clinical Psychology with specializations in nutrition and children.

Mia was a Psychology major with a French minor. She is interested in studying memory, psychology memory disorders, and sleep and dreaming.

LeahLeah Hall

Leah was an undergraduate student at the University of Oregon majoring in Psychology with a minor in Spanish and Sociology. She is always excited to learn about memory and hopes to pursue graduate education as well as continue to research after graduation. She also loves to play frisbee and listen to the soundtracks of musicals.

Yunrui is an undergraduate student at the University of Oregon majoring in Neuroscience and Chinese. She is interested in computational and cognitive neuroscience and plans to pursue a Ph.D. in either of those fields. Her goal is to have a career where she can conduct research, and travel around the world.

Lynn graduated from the University of Oregon with a double major in Psychology and Neuroscience. Her interests include learning and decision-making, and how they differ among clinical populations. She plans to attend graduate school in clinical psychology, and later work as a neuropsychologist.

Kaythlin is an undergraduate student at the University of Oregon majoring in neuroscience and minoring in biology and Chinese, while also enrolled in the Chinese Flagship Program. She is interested in cognitive and behavioural neuroscience, and developmental psychology. In the future, she is interested in pursuing graduate studies in biomedical engineering. She hopes to incorporate her studies in Chinese Mandarin in her profession to bridge the gap between Chinese and English language speakers who seek access to medical information.
